1. My Values
The core of this channel is built on honesty and truthful information. I am open to sponsorships but these cannot compromise my values. Fundamentally, every sponsorship contract is filtered through these questions: Is it relevant to the channel, Does it mislead or put opinions in my mouth, and Is it legal/trustworthy.
2. Editorial Independence
- My opinions are not for sale. A sponsor can ask me to state objective, verifiable facts about their product (e.g. "8GB of RAM", "IP67 rated", "ships with a 2-year warranty"). A sponsor cannot ask me to say an opinion like “I love product XYZ” or “This is my favourite feature”. If a product is of genuine utility, or I truly like it, I will state my opinion. I can be asked to point out my favourite feature or something that I like about the product, but I will not state opinions that aren’t mine
- I retain full creative and editorial control over how a video is made, including script, footage, pacing, and final edit. I will try to accommodate any edits you request to a reasonable extent. Sponsors are entitled to a video review pre-release and may request edits. Sponsors have minimal editorial control over the video but have much more control over the dedicated sponsor segment.
- I reserve the right to decline, pause, or walk away from a partnership if a product doesn't work as claimed, or if I feel the collaboration compromises the trust of my audience. If a sponsorship deal cannot be fulfilled (e.g if a video cannot be produced, or if the arranged sponsorship video will no longer feature the product), sponsors may be entitled to a monetary refund and a product return. Depending on original collaboration offer. If product return is unreasonably expensive, sponsors may asked to help cover return costs.
- Sponsors may request factual corrections before a video is published. Sponsors do not get approval rights over my opinions.
- Sponsorship disclosure cannot be asked to be removed. This includes “Sponsored by XYZ”, “Ad”/“Advertisement” text being shown on the screen, or other indicators that a company has paid for their product, for example, a sponsor segment may have a progress bar at the bottom of the screen to indicate to viewers the length of the Ad read.
3. Who I Work With
I prioritize partnerships with companies that make sense for my content and audience. These are mostly makers, engineers, and people interested in electronics and 3D printing. Examples include:
- Test & measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, thermal cameras, network analyzers).
- 3D printers, printing materials, and CAD services/tools/apps.
- Electronics components, single-board computers, and development tools.
- Manufacturing services. (e.g. Wire EDM, PCB fabrication, CNC)
- Tools, workshop equipment, and productivity hardware relevant to my projects.
- Educational services and some online courses that align with my channel.
4. Who I Don't Work With
I will not accept sponsorships from:
- gambling, betting, or crypto/NFT platforms.
- alcohol, tobacco, or vaping products.
- political campaigns or advocacy groups.
- MLMs or pyramid schemes.
- Companies selling counterfeit, unsafe, or unlicensed products.
- Products I can't personally verify function as advertised.
- Direct competitors of companies who I have a long-term contract with.
5. Video & Content Structure
- Collaboration type, and all partnership terms are discussed before-hand. I will try to follow all of your guidelines, rules, and expectations honestly and in good faith.
- A single video may contain multiple sponsors but only 1 company has the right to a dedicated sponsor segment per video. This prevents my video from being overwhelmed with ads. Sponsors are entitled to know who else will sponsor the same video. I aim to not collaborate with direct competitors in the same video. e.g I may be sponsored by: an online PCB manufacturing service (who have a sponsor segment), an electronics testing tool (only featured on-camera but without a host-read ad). I will not be sponsored by two competing companies in the same video e.g two 3D Printer companies.
- Sponsor spot length is flexible (typically 15–90 seconds) and agreed on in advance
- Placement (beginning, middle, or end of the video) is at my discretion unless otherwise agreed, since placement affects pacing and viewer retention.
- If your product is naturally relevant to the whole video (e.g. an electronics tool for a build), it may appear on screen well beyond the dedicated sponsor spot at no extra cost.
- Exclusive sponsorships (no other sponsor or feature in the same video) are available, but typically require funding the full production cost of the video.
- Repeated future use of a product (in later, unrelated videos) can be arranged at the time of the original agreement, sometimes at no additional cost if the product proves genuinely useful.
6. Free Product Features
If you send me a product with no payment attached:
- I have full creative control over how and whether it's presented.
- There's no obligation on my part to give a review, share an opinion, demonstrate specific functions, include a call-to-action, or similar.
- I'll aim to give fair, honest impressions if I do share them.
- I guarantee the product will be featured in a video with a link (which may be an affiliate link) in the description.
7. Product Handling
- Unless otherwise agreed, review units are mine to keep, sell or give away. Ownership of the product is fully transferred to me. An exception to this, is if the sponsorship cannot be completed and the product will no longer featured in the video. (See Section 2. For details on returns).
- Unboxing or first-impression footage, if requested, will reflect my genuine first reaction. I won't stage or re-shoot this for a "better" reaction.
8. Usage Rights
- If sponsors wish to use my footage, name, and likeness, they are strongly encouraged to ask for my approval first. Sponsors may not misrepresent me, my footage or opinions.
- Any such usage rights, and their duration, are negotiated on a per-project basis.
9. Pricing & Process
- My rate card is a rough guide, not a fixed price list. I'm open to alternative structures depending on the project. Please see https://magmabow.com/mediakit/ for my media kit.
- To start a conversation, please include: your product (with a link), your estimated budget, your requirements from me, payment terms, and, if you have one: a project idea that you are interested in seeing me make.
- If a sponsor withdraws after work has begun, I reserve the right to keep any sent products and monetary payment. If a sponsor withdraws before I have started working on a project, and they have not sent any product or money, they are entitled to cancel the sponsorship and thus keep their products/payment.
- Cancellation terms should be discussed before the sponsorship withdrawal. Each cancellation is handled on a case-by-case basis.
- If a sponsor does not deliver a pre-discussed product or payment, I reserve the right to cancel the sponsorship. This includes the removal of ad segments, affiliate links and product features.
10. Audience First
- I will only promote products/services I would genuinely use or recommend myself.
- I won't knowingly promote scams, plagiarized products, or products with misleading claims.
- Even within sponsored content, I reserve the right to note limitations, caveats, or criticisms of a product where relevant.
